Rev. Brandan Robertson, Pastor

Rev. Brandan Robertson (he/him) has served as the part-time Pastor of Sunnyside Reformed Church in New York City since 2023 and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. With extensive pastoral experience and a passion for serving marginalized communities, Robertson’s ministry focuses on the intersection of faith, justice, and LGBTQ+ inclusion. Known for his dynamic pastoral work, he is committed to creating spaces where all people can explore faith and community.

Robertson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry and Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, a Master of Theological Studies from Iliff School of Theology, and a Master of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration from Eastern Illinois University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biblical Studies at Drew University. Widely recognized for his leadership in progressive faith, Robertson is also an accomplished author, contributing to over 27 books on theology, spirituality, and justice.

Magdalena Fowler, Music Director

Magdalena Fowler (she/her) has led the Music Ministry and the Sunnyside Reformed Church Choir since 2011. Since then, she has transformed our choir and built a diverse program of worship music, concerts, and cultural events at our church.

Previously, Magdalena has led the worship music at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Hoboken, NJ, she was a guest performer at the Grace and St. Paul's Church in Manhattan, NY and at St. George's Catholic Church in York, England. Magdalena was a piano faculty member at the St. Thomas Choir School in Manhattan. Magdalena was an accompanist at the Young People's Chorus, NY, the Melodia Women's Choir, and at the Greek Archdiocesan Metropolitan Youth Choir. Magdalena also accompanied the Mohawk Trail Regional High School Choir at the 2014 New York City Heritage Festival music competition at the Riverside Church in Manhattan. 

Magdalena holds a Bachelor in Piano Performance from Mannes, The New School for Music, and a Master in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.

Rooted in the Reformed tradition, it's made up of elders, deacons, and our pastor, chosen by the congregation to guide our church's life and ministry. Together, they care for our spiritual health, worship, finances, and outreach, always seeking God's guidance on behalf of the whole congregation.
